Payout on hold?
Count the date. Check your documents.
Releasely Reader is a free tool with two jobs: it counts the date a platform states (day 21 and day 180 at PayPal, day 120 at Stripe, the Etsy dates), and it checks that the name and address on two documents equal each other and your account name. It runs in your browser.
Not affiliated with PayPal/Stripe/Etsy. Not legal advice. No guarantee of release. Example only.
STRIPE · Unacceptable Risk Policy · first email 2026-09-20
Example only. The formal review follows within a "reasonable period" after day 120; Stripe gives no number of days.
The date, from the platform's own words
Each date comes with the sentence it rests on, the page it was read on and the day we read it. Where a platform blocked our reader, the Reader says "not confirmed" instead of guessing.
Documents that agree
A document that differs from the account is a common reason for a second request. Type the name and address as printed on two documents. The Reader compares them with each other and with the account name, and shows what the platform says about matching.
Three platforms, nothing else
PayPal
PayPal may base decisions on confidential criteria. The Resolution Center is the route PayPal names. The numbers below (21 and 180 days) are limits PayPal states for holds; they are not a release date.
35 points, each with its source and read date.
Stripe
Stripe may base decisions on confidential criteria and may not explain them. The 120 days count from the date of the first email, not from the day you saw the pause in the Dashboard.
32 points, each with its source and read date.
Etsy
Etsy blocks automated reading of its legal pages (HTTP 403); its help pages could be read on 2026-10-14. What only the Payments Policy says is marked "not confirmed" and comes from an archive copy of 2026-08-27. Check the live page before you rely on it.
30 points, each with its source and read date.
Three situations
What the Reader does not do
- Release your money or lift a limit
- Speak to the platform for you
- See your account
- Give legal, tax or financial advice
- Know a confidential reason the platform will not share
What it does
- Counts the dates the platform states
- Checks names and addresses on two documents
- Names the page and the day each rule was read
- Keeps what you type on your device
